Jonathan Quick Gets 392nd NHL Win, Most By A U.S.-Born Goaltender

Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for his 392nd NHL win, surpassing Ryan Miller for the most ever by a U.S.-born goaltender, and the New York Rangers became the first team to 50 wins this season with an 8-5 victory against the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena on Saturday.

“You do everything you can to not think about it, but it’s there,” Quick said. “It’s a good feeling to get it over with and get it done and focus on what’s important -- winning the division and winning the conference.”

Auston Matthews scored his 60th goal of the season for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Saturday.

It's the second time in his NHL career that Matthews has reached the mark, having previously done so in 2021-22, when he scored 60 goals in 73 games.

Alexis Lafreniere had two goals and Igor Shesterkin made 36 saves for the Rangers, who lead the league with 100 points after giving coach Peter Laviolette his 800th career win.

Former NHL All-Star forward Rick Nash has been named general manager for Canada's national men's hockey team at this year's world championship, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.

Among the committee members who selected Nash for the tournament, which will be held May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, were St. Louis Blues president Doug Armstrong and former Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf.

Wayne Simmonds To Retire A Flyer After 15 NHL Seasons

Forward Wayne Simmonds announced his retirement from the NHL on Monday after 15 seasons with six teams.

The Philadelphia Flyers are signing him to a one-day contract and will honor his career on April 13 during a game against the New Jersey Devils.

Simmonds, 35, appeared in 1,037 games and tallied 526 points (263 goals, 263 assists) and 1,313 penalty minutes.

The Dallas Stars unveiled a statue of Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Modano during Saturday night's 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Modano is the franchise leader in goals, assists and games played.

"It's hard to put into words what this has meant," Modano said after wiping away tears following a one-minute standing ovation. "Thirty years ago we got on a plane in 1993 to come here (when the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas) and didn't know what to expect. Five years later we gave you a Stanley Cup in 1999. ... We feel we've turned Dallas into a hockey town."

He joins Peter Stastny (7), Joe Sakic (6), Michel Goulet (4) and Peter Forsberg (2) as the only players in Nordiques/Avalanche NHL history with multiple 100-point seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
